Privacy Policy

This policy covers the EarlyBird Chrome extension (“the extension”) and this website, earlybird.family. If the three language versions ever differ, the English one applies.
The short version
- The extension doesn’t read any web page you visit.
- It doesn’t log keystrokes, take screenshots, or track which sites you use.
- Your game save is kept on our server so it survives a new computer. It’s tied to an anonymous player ID — no name, no email, no X account.
- Your coin watchlist never leaves your browser.
Permissions the extension asks for, and why
idle | To know whether you’re at the computer or away. Chrome only answers “active”, “idle” or “locked” — nothing about what you’re doing. Being active makes the eggs hatch faster. |

The extension does not ask for access to the websites you visit and has no content scripts, so it cannot read or change any page.
What goes to our server
During the beta your game runs on our server (hosted on Cloudflare), which is what makes the eggs, clock and luck fair and lets you move to another computer. The server stores:
- an anonymous player ID and your game save (birds, eggs, worms, badges, settings);
- the invite code you used, when you signed up and when you were last seen;
- your sign-in token and recovery code — only as one-way hashes, so we can’t read them.
About once a minute the extension tells the server “active” or “idle” — the same one-word answer Chrome gives it. Never which site, tab or app you’re using. Like any web request, the server sees your IP address; we don’t store it with your save.
Your watchlist, price alerts and morning reports are never sent to our server.
Prices
If you add coins to the Messenger bird’s watchlist, the extension asks CoinGecko’s public API (api.coingecko.com) for their prices. The request contains only the names of those coins — no account, no ID, nothing about you. Like any web request, CoinGecko can see your IP address; see their privacy policy. If your watchlist is empty, no price requests are made. Your watchlist itself stays in your browser.
Prices only change how the birds act. The extension doesn’t recommend coins, predict prices, or offer trading of any kind.
Your data, your call
You can delete your nest at any time under Account → Delete my nest in the extension; your save and account are erased from the server right away. Uninstalling the extension removes what’s in your browser. Keep your recovery code — without it we can’t tell which nest is yours. We don’t sell your data or hand it to anyone.
The beta waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your X handle. We use them only to tell you about the beta. The form is run by Tally (their privacy policy). We don’t sell or share the list. To be removed, message us on X or reply to any email from us.
This website
The site is static and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies. Your language choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking individuals.
Children
EarlyBird isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and note the change in the devlog.
